This boat has spent all of its life on Lake Simcoe. For the past 30 years it has been stored in a garage while the previous owner contemplated having it restored. The boat is a 1961 Dowty Turbocraft, Canada's first jet boat. Originally purchased in Orillia it started life with a Gray Marine 109 straight six as its engine. The six was later replaced with a Ford 302 V8 which made awesome power and produced a really sweet exhaust noise.
I was given the boat in December 2014 and stored it in my shop while I decided how I would attack the project. Now a year and a bit later I have a bare hull almost ready for refinishing. The engine is up in Orillia with Jeff at Perry's Automotive for a complete restoration. I have rebuilt and upholstered the seats and interior panels. Currently a new gas tank is being fabricated out of aluminum.
I will post more pictures as the restoration continues.
