AristoCraft Boatworks, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, has been constructing boats since the mid 1940’s. They started out manufacturing a fishing-type skiff, and even experimented in the early 1950s with a few cabin cruiser models, but it is their line of sleek, fast runabouts from the mid-50s that they are most noted for. Demand for these models, such as the Torpedo, the Seaflash and the Typhoon was at such a high, an innovative conveyor-belt assembly line was utilized. It enabled the factory to produce a boat every 15 minutes.

Still going strong today, AristoCraft decided to duplicate their models from the 1950s, starting in 2001. New remanufactured boats are crafted by hand just like their predecessors of the 1950s. Following the original design, the same screws, glues, jigs, machinery, and equipment to include band saws, planers, and polishers are used. Additionally, boats incorporate Z-Spar Varnish, and have Coast Guard regulated flotation, steering, and lighting.

John and Vicki picked up this 2005/1956 model on the Eastern seaboard last summer, and have been out to enjoy numerous club events.
