A 1958, 14ft. Canadian Cedar Strip

(owned by Ron Weir)

Words from Ron Weir:
“ A Survivor”
“ On rare occasions we sometimes get lucky and literally fall into a good thing when we least expect it. Such was the case when a friend of ours told us about a couple who were looking for a new home for their “classic” boat.
The Maxwells from Hawkestone Ontario had purchased the boat and motor new for the sum of $788.00 (still have the bill of sale) in May of 1958, and used it for fishing and water skiing on Lake Simcoe for a number of years.
With a growing family, the introduction of bigger horsepower, and increased demand for recreational use, the Canadian was used less and less, and was placed in storage where it remained for many years.
In 2005 the Maxwells decided they wanted back their storage space, and started looking for a buyer who would appreciate this classic, and keep it up and retain it for the next generation to see and enjoy. Enter the Weir family – the deal was struck, and “the rest is history.”
