A 1966, 17ft. Lakefield Richardson Aquacraft

(owned by Mike Vasiga)

See more about this boat at:

John's Little Boat Shop

This boat was originally purchased by Ted Beals and led a repectable life with a comfortable and safe boat-house on Pigeon Lake before being purchased by the Vasigas in approximately 1976. The Vasigas used the boat for a couple of years at their cottage on Gold Lake before engine problems failed her. Actually a marina failed to fill her with mixed fuel triggering the engine failure. The Vasigas were able to find almost the identical engine that had been rebuilt, but after a short life this engine also failed.
Combined with damage done to the hull in a collision with a stump (inexperienced relative) the Vasigas decided to retire the boat temporarily to a dry home under the cottage where she could safely act as a counter top for tools and tackle boxes.
During the summer of 2004 approximately 24 years after her retirement it was decided that the Richardson should be resurrected and with a little bit of internet research from Vancouver she was put into the care of the John & Cindy Hendren. After a complete re-furbishing she will be fitted with a new engine and returned to Gold Lake for the enjoyment of all the Vasigas and guests (maybe not that one relative) :) Scheduled to be launched in the spring of 2005.
