"Mistress", a 1937 - 38' Matthews Sedan Cruiser

(owned by Carl Deeth)

"Mistress", a 1937 Matthews 38' Sedan built in Port Clinton, Ohio. The mahogany planked over oak frame hull was found three miles from the Deeth's home in Nestleton, Ontario where she was moved on a homemade ten-ton wagon.

The restoration project is now in a protected 25' x 40' shop in the Deeth's back yard. Mr. Deeth and friends are doing all the work on the Mistress.

The twin screws will now be powered by 60 HP diesels. In her past life, she cruised the Great Lakes, such as Lake Erie and Lake Ontario as well as Lake St. Clair and the Erie Barge Canal.

She may take years to get her hull wet again and have a second chance to show off her elegant lines on the Trent-Severn Waterways!
