"Leaky Tiki" 195? 12 ft. Peterborough Auto Boat
(Owned by Tim Jackson & Ruth Giles)

The latest acquistion by the Jackson family in the fall of 2009. The first order of business, the boat was stripped of all old finish inside and out. Photo at left shows her when they first found her. Since then, new transom , motor board, and transom knee and supports were made from ash. Inner and outer gunwales and all seat brackets and supports were removed and new ones made from ash.The upper half of the stem was cut out and a new one scarfed in place and a new deck and bow support made also with ash.The hull was finished with 6 oz cloth and West System expoxy. A new keel was made also from ash and bedded to boat. The outer hull was then painted with 5 coats of Pettit Easypoxy "Kelly green."

The boat is powered by a 1921 Johnson 2.5 hp, shown when found in the photo at right. Fuel system was cleaned completely and repairs made. Ignition points cleaned and spark plug wires replaced. A new muffler was made from stainless steel. Lower end cleaned out and new grease added. Cooling lines were all removed and cleaned out to find /fix overheating problem. Many hours of polishing and new decals were applied.

First run on Thanksgiving weekend 2009....What a transformation! What a little beauty!
